Cold Heat

Your shivering almost disguises the fact that your heart is pounding so hard in your chest you're surprised you haven't cracked a rib yet, but the heat from the man huddled with you burns. The numbing cold in your arms and legs almost makes you forget that you are currently wrapped in someone else’s. The biting wind against your face is a stark contrast to the solid warmth on your back. And the barren expanse of frozen land before you opposes the feelings threatening to burst forth from your soul.

The arms holding you tighter aim to sooth the searing pain in your side. The soft kisses on your nape, lips on skin, help diminish the knowledge that your blood is everywhere. The gentle touches scream for you to renounce your fate. But with the whispered 'love you', you're already gone, swallowed by cold heat.

The End
